Like every other college in your growing pile of brochures, we want you to know who we are. But at AIC we think it is much more important to understand who you are - and what you want. Do you want personal attention and incredible support from your professors? Do you want a school where creativity and flexibility rule - where how things could be is just as important as how things are? Do you want the kind of training that stresses internships and experience, makes employers take notice and makes any future possible? Do you want a college that has renowned programs in arts and sciences, business, criminal justice, education, health care and more? Do you want to live with, learn with (and learn from) students representing every corner of the country and every ethnic, cultural and economic slice of the American pie - not to mention 28 countries? Do you want a comfortable campus in a not-too-big, not-too-small city? Then you are in luck!
American International College is an accredited, four-year, coeducational, urban college in Springfield, Massachusetts; founded in 1885. AIC is top-quality, student-centered education, guided by experienced faculty (one for every 15 students) who are respected in their fields - and who are totally devoted, 24/7 to teaching. Our faculty includes a former executive producer of NBC Nightly News and a former prosecuting attorney for Hampden (Mass.) County. Each of the College's accounting department faculty members is a certified public accountant. Faculty from our nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy departments continue as practitioners. Our education department faculty includes several who have been school superintendents, principals and classroom teachers. Our students benefit by learning from teachers who care about the success of each student and who enrich the quality of their teaching by bringing their professional experiences to the classroom.
Internships
American International College students are often at an advantage in their job search because of the experiences they have had in College-Sponsored internships. Experiential learning is valued at AIC. While many majors require some off-campus learning experience, all majors offer some type of an internship. Students have interned at such places as Disney World, Pitney Bowes, ESPN, Channel 22 (NBC affiliate), Yellowstone National Park, Hampden County District Attorney's Office, Morgan Stanley, Baystate Medical Center and hundreds of others.
The AIC Campus
The AIC campus combines the excitement and access of an urban campus with the privacy and beauty typically associated with a suburban campus. Our 26 buildings are situated on 60 acres. Among our most notable facilities is the 36,000-sq. ft. Health Science Complex, which includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a beautiful amphitheatre and several labs (including the only anatomical lab in Massachusetts, other than those at medical schools) the Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center and the Esther B. Griswold Theatre for the Performing Arts; the James J. Shea, Jr. Memorial Library; and the Butova and Metcalf Gymnasiums. There are six residence halls, each wired for Internet, cable television and telephone access.
Affordable Excellence
AIC offers a quality education at an affordable price. A generous financial aid program allows us to offer over 80% of our student's financial aid with the average total package being around $14,000. Our institutional financial aid includes need-based grants, academic and merit scholarship and athletic scholarships in some sports.

Long Island Business Institute

Long Island Business Institute
|
The year was 1968, and many females who were pursuing professional endeavors were doing so either as teachers, nurses, or secretaries. However, one woman took a different path to success, as an entrepreneur, and has since made a difference in thousands of people's lives - men and women, alike.
When Jean Baron opened the Long Island Business Institute in Commack, New York, there were seven students, eleven typewriters, and she was the teacher.
Thirty-five years later, Mrs. Baron still is at the helm of the school she founded, having brought it to collegiate status eight years ago. That move has brought LIBI to the point of two campuses (Commack and Flushing), with a total staff of just under 100 and combined student enrollment of 750 pursuing Associate Degree, Diploma and Certificate Programs. Yet, with this growth, LIBI's quaintness, intimacy and the one-on-one relationships between students and faculty that have been carefully molded and have been the school's trademark since Day One remain to this very day, and the rapport is now stronger than ever.
Many of the options that LIBI gives its students are educational opportunities in fields that are in high demand, including Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Billing and Coding, Business Management, Computer Applications, Court Reporting, Legal Secretarial, Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, Notary Public, Office Technology, and Title Closing. Each program has its own specific nuances that bring its individual desirability to the table.
For instance, take the Court Reporting Program. LIBI is one of only three schools in the state of New York, one of only six in the geographic region from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania and one of only 69 schools in the United States and Canada that are approved by the National Court Reporters Association. This makes the students who complete this program part of the low supply/high demand equation, leading to unlimited job opportunities and high salaries. Come to our college and enroll in any of our two year Associate Degree Programs, which include Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Business Management and Office Technology or the two semester Diploma Programs in Legal and Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, and a one semester Computer Applications Certificate Program.
And as diversified as the curriculum offerings are, the same can be said for the student population. From recent high school graduates and those who have completed college and are still unsure of what they want to do, to people who have been down-sized, to single mothers who now have to support themselves, and parents who want to alleviate the empty-nest syndrome, each student is treated as an individual, with all receiving the same care, compassion and concern.
Yet, no matter the background or which program one selects, each student is guaranteed a top-of-the-line quality education, unlimited job placement, free refresher courses and friends and memories to last a lifetime.

Saint Michael's College
"The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge." The philosopher and Nobel Prize winner Bertrand Russell could have had Saint Michael's College in mind when he uttered those words. For more than 100 years, St. Mike's has been the place that students come to pursue their passions, dig deep, take risks, explore unconventional ideas, find success, and learn what matters.
A serious love of learning is at the heart of a Saint Michael's education. Our faculty prove the point: they're experts in their fields who love nothing more than sharing their experience with our students. Their doors are always open, and they're on a first-name basis with their students. Our average class size of 19 students means you're always a name and never a number. And we're one of only four Catholic colleges in New England with a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society.
The potential for real-world experiences abound at St. Mike's, with competitive faculty-student summer research programs, research assistantships, study abroad, internships and capstone projects. Service and a commitment to social justice is so much at the heart of Saint Michael's that 70 percent of our students get involved with projects that range from building homes to helping rescued animals to mentoring young students in our local community. Our Fire and Rescue squad is the second-busiest college squad in the country. And our ground-breaking Wilderness Program gets you out into the great outdoors with everything from ice climbing to hiking to kayaking to leadership training opportunities to skiing and snowboarding. In fact, every student in good academic standing gets an annual ski pass to Smugglers' Notch for almost nothing!
From live music to ice skating to guest speakers to dance competitions to retreats to theater performances to late-night cookouts on the quad, there's plenty to do when you're not in class, studying or out on the athletic fields. Burlington, one of the top college towns in the country, is just minutes away. You can be on the slopes in half an hour, in Montreal in two hours and Boston in just over three.
And after St. Mike's, you'll find you're prepared not only for your career but for a meaningful life. A liberal arts education means that you'll leave Saint Michael's well-educated, well-rounded and ready for what life has in store. Our recent graduates have gone onto careers as employers as diverse as the U.S. Senate, MTV, The New York Times and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Are you ready to learn what matters? There are plenty of options for spending time on campus: take a tour, visit a class, attend an admission information session, talk with an admission counselor, and get an insider's view from students about life at St. Mike's.

Founded in 1782, Washington College is the 10th oldest college in America. George Washington, in whose honor the College was named, served as a Trustee from 1784 until 1789 and was awarded the College's first honorary degree. From its inception, Washington College has maintained an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts and sciences. Through diverse curricular offerings, excellent teaching, and engaged learning we develop in our students the habits of analytic thought, aesthetic insight, imagination, ethical sensitivity, and clarity of expression. We choose to maintain an enrollment of approximately 1,250 students and a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Two-thirds of all WC classes have twenty or fewer students making it easy for students and their professors to engage in the exchange of information and ideas. Our graduates leave us prepared for admission to graduate and professional schools, able to pursue a wide variety of career options, and ready for lives of responsible citizenship and personal fulfillment.
Our 112-acre campus is in historic Chestertown, on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We are situated in a county with more than 200 miles of water front including a beautiful stretch along the Chester River just a short walk from campus. Location is everything and ours is in the very heart of the Chesapeake Bay region, forty-five minutes from Annapolis and ninety minutes from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
WC has over 60 student clubs and 15 NCAA-III varsity sports. Most students stay on-campus over the weekend to participate in various social and recreational activities. Approximately 30% of students attend graduate school in the first year following graduation and approximately 45% do so within five years.
Annual tuition is $29,640 and total expenses (including room, board, and fees) are $36,650. Approximately 85% of the student body receives some form of need-based financial aid or merit-based scholarship award. More than 50% of all WC students are members of the National Honor Society. The College offers $40,000 tuition scholarships ($10,000 per year for four years) to all admitted members of the NHS.
